It's Not About Me

The Good News of Jesus

Seeing is believing?

Science is a religion. Scientists have discovered that the behavior of natural events can be predicted by the means of equations, called the laws of Physics. However, they make the mistake of believing that the entities that constitute their physical model are real. They are not real, but imaginary. No-one has ever seen a gravitational field.

How do we know what is truth? The Bible gives us an astounding answer:

Col 2:8  “Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.”

Note that our Lord associates philosophy with deception. The language of philosophy is logic. We are being told that logic cannot be used to discern the truth. We are being told that human traditions and rudiments are deceiving too. That is an astounding statement, especially when you consider the fact that most of the things we are taught in our schools, even Christian schools, consist of worldly knowledge. It also tells you that there is no truth but Jesus the Christ.

Joh 14:6  Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me.

Christianity is not a religion. It is reality. Have you had an encounter with the Truth? This video will show you how:

Jesus the Christ is the Truth

John 14:5-7 “Thomas saith unto Him, Lord, we know not whither Thou goest; and how can we know the way? Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me. If ye had known Me, ye should have known My Father also: and from henceforth ye know Him, and have seen Him.”

John 18:37-38 “Pilate therefore said unto Him, Art Thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth My voice. Pilate saith unto Him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and saith unto them, I find in Him no fault at all.”

What is truth? When Jesus the Christ said that He is the Truth, what could that mean? We often think of the Truth as something determined through reason and logic. However we are warned by God in His Word that these tools are deceptive:

Col 2:8 “Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.”

In the light of this, it should not be surprising that most secular knowledge does not agree with the Word of God. The reason for this is not that the Bible is not scientific, but that secular knowledge is based on a lie, which is, that truth can be obtained through human effort. Truth can only be found through Jesus Christ.

Who defines reality? God, or people? The Creator, or the creature? Christianity is not a religion, it is reality.

The Word of God

Although the Bible was clearly physically written by men no word in Scripture is there by accident. The nation of Israel considered Scripture to be the Word of God, and this faith remains for those who are called according to God’s purpose. God is omnipotent. Nothing is too difficult for Him. If He chose to use people to write His Perfect Word, he can do that despite the imperfections of the writers.

You think that Christian faith makes sense from a human perspective? If does not, and this was intended by God, so that it will be obvious that God is the cause of faith in a believer, and not something achieved through human effort.

1 Cor 1:19-21 “For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.”

Notice the “it is written”? So I say too… IT IS WRITTEN!

How does one “prove” God to be the author of Scripture? One just knows. At first you wonder why you know that, and then later, you hit upon the reason in the Bible. Since the Holy Spirit dwells in the believer, and since the Holy Spirit is the Author of Scripture, it should be obvious why the believer believes that Scripture was written by God.

2 Cor 5:5 “Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit.”

Satanic strategy is to cause one to doubt that the Word of God is true. Some attempts at doing this is to introduce thoughts such as “it is true if it meets certain requirements, and otherwise there must be an error in translation, maybe it is just a legend, maybe the writer, being human, wrote an imperfect book, etc. These are all Satanic thoughts. Keep away from them. The Word of God is perfect, and so read it and believe it, if you can. Only God can help you with the latter.

The first utterance of Satan in Scripture: Gan 3:1b “Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?” (Satan tries to cause doubt)

The first utterance of Jesus Christ at the start of His Ministry: Matthew 4:4b “But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” (Jesus uses the Word to counter Satan).”

Communicate the Gospel of Jesus Christ!

Matthew 28:18-20 “And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”

When we were asked by our Lord to share the Gospel to the entire world, were we asked to do something that required a lot of skill? The Gospel is not difficult to understand. We are sinners. The penalty of sin is death and eternal torment in hell. Jesus Christ paid for your sins by His death on the cross. He was ressurected and will come again as Judge. Repent (reject sin) and believe in the Gospel. But only those called by God will believe. It is written:

1 Cor 1:17-21 “For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect. For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.”

Does this mean that eloquence, argumentation, and philosophy will not work (“wisdom of words”) but instead communicating the Gospel of Jesus Christ (“foolishness of preaching”) is all that is required? Let us read on:

1 Cor 1:22-29 “For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness; But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: That no flesh should glory in his presence.”

Miracles and philosophical argument are not the means to convert! Only God converts, and our role is simply to communicate the Gospel, and let God do the rest. The people who are called by God will not appear to be impressive to the world (“not many wise men”, “not many mighty”, not many noble”), and in fact, they will appear to be foolish and weak people. So it will be obvious that God was the one who converted, and the glory will be His.

So brothers and sisters in Christ, do not be discouraged, and do not shy from communicating the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Do you feel weak (unskilled, unimpressive, unintelligent, etc.)? It may be that God has chosen you, “..that no flesh should glory in His prescence.” Our highest calling in life is to be winners of souls, and the window of opportunity to do this is closing, as we are in the last days. Let us sieze the opportunity!

Rom 1:16a “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth…”

God bless,
George
