Jesus the Christ is the Truth
John 14:5-7 “Thomas saith unto Him, Lord, we know not whither Thou goest; and how can we know the way? Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me. If ye had known Me, ye should have known My Father also: and from henceforth ye know Him, and have seen Him.”
John 18:37-38 “Pilate therefore said unto Him, Art Thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth My voice. Pilate saith unto Him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and saith unto them, I find in Him no fault at all.”
What is truth? When Jesus the Christ said that He is the Truth, what could that mean? We often think of the Truth as something determined through reason and logic. However we are warned by God in His Word that these tools are deceptive:
Col 2:8 “Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.”
In the light of this, it should not be surprising that most secular knowledge does not agree with the Word of God. The reason for this is not that the Bible is not scientific, but that secular knowledge is based on a lie, which is, that truth can be obtained through human effort. Truth can only be found through Jesus Christ.
Who defines reality? God, or people? The Creator, or the creature? Christianity is not a religion, it is reality.
There is something seriously wrong with science!
The Bible says that the universe was created by God approximately 6000 years ago (4004 BC). It also says that the universe was created in 6 days. Science says that the universe was created billions of years ago when nothing exploded (Big Bang theory). Both cannot be right, say the atheists and agnostics. Therefore there is something seriously wrong with science.
There are a couple of resources I want to share with you that can be starting points on your journey to discover the truth, especially since modern science dominates the worldview of most people. It can be very confusing to Christians who believe the Bible and have to explain why modern science contradicts a lot of what the Bible says.
One good resource is Kent Hovind’s series of seminars on Creation Science. Kent Hovind was a high school teacher before starting his Creation Science ministry. He is currently in jail for tax evasion. He may not have the complete explanation that reconciles modern science and the Bible, but his approach is sound, and his theories interesting. Another good resource for those of you who are more mathematically minded and with some background in modern physics is the Association for Biblical Astronomy. Their website (www.geocentricity.com) has a lot of information on Geocentricity. You might be shocked to hear that the Bible says that the earth is not moving, and is actually the center of the universe.
Finally, there are the theistic scientists who work at the Discovery Institute. Their papers can be found at their website (www.discovery.org).
One thing we know for certain: it is Jesus Christ who created the universe and He holds it together. It is written:
1 Cor 9-17 “For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; Strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness; Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son: In whom we have redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness of sins: Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: For by Him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by Him, and for Him: And He is before all things, and by Him all things consist.”
